Typical accessories for the LX5
Panasonic DMW-BCJ13 (DMW-BCJ13PP) Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery: $49.95. Get a second, backup battery for your LX5. This way, you can be sure your camera continues to have a power source during extended shooting sessions.

For storage, the LX5 uses SD, SDHC or the latest SDXC cards.

Refer to Rob Galbraith’s SD / SDHC card write speed tests (done on a Nikon D90) to get an idea on the relative write and read speeds of different brands of cards. At the time of writing (Nov 25, 2010), the SanDisk Extreme III SDHC cards occupy the top two spots.

To ensure smooth recording of video and high resolution images, go for Class 6 or faster cards.

While waiting for your LX5 to arrive, download and read the Panasonic LX5 Manual to familiarize yourself with the camera’s features and capabilities. Some general pointers in Photography Tips might be of additional help.

Good luck shopping for your Panasonic LX5!
