Olympus XZ-1 plus LI-50B -- Battery Life

The following Olympus XZ-1 battery life numbers (how many photos can be taken before power from the Olympus LI-50B 3.6V, 925 mAh Lithium Ion battery pack runs out) is extracted from the Olympus XZ-1 Manual and the Olympus XZ-1 Specifications page.

The battery life figure is provided with the following power supply condition is assumption:


  1. One fully-charged Olympus LI-50B.

Per the XZ-1 specs page, the number of recordable pictures (with 50% flash light) is approximately 320.

Unfortunately, separate battery life figures are not provided for movie shooting and photography at various temperatures.

Per the XZ-1 manual, the battery can go through approximately 300 charge cycles, and this number varies depending on usage patterns.

Other Battery Life Factors
In the XZ-1 Manual, Olympus advised that the following will exhaust the battery quickly:


  1. The lens is zoomed in and out repeatedly.

  2. The shutter release button is pressed halfway repeatedly, which activates the autofocus mechanism.

  3. The LCD monitor displays an image for a prolonged period of time.

  4. The camera is left connected to a computer or printer.
