Optional accessories for the P6000
Nikon EN-EL5 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery: $23.74. It’s a good idea to get a second, backup battery for your Coolpix P6000. This way, you can be sure your camera continues to have a power source during extended shooting sessions.
Nikon MH-61 Battery Charger: $49.99. It’s unfortunate that Nikon decided not to include this item as a standard accessory. You can charge the EN-EL5 in-camera, but it’s more convenient to charge the battery via a dedicated charger.
For storage, the P9000 uses SD or SDHC cards.
Refer to Rob Galbraith’s SD / SDHC card write speed tests (done on a Nikon D90) to get an idea on the relative write and read speeds of different brands of cards. At the time of writing (Oct 29, 2009), the SanDisk Extreme III SDHC cards occupy the top two spots.
To ensure smooth recording of video and high resolution images, go for Class 6 or faster cards.
