Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2

The English Language Adobe Acrobat PDF owner guides for the Panasonic DMC-GF2 are now available for download at Panasonic.com.

Two GF2 user manuals are available.

The first is titled “Basic Operating Instructions, Digital Camera/ Lens Kit, Model No. DMC-GF2C/DMC-GF2K DMC-GF2”, has 56 pages and weighs in at 9.3 MB (Megabytes). Right-click this download link and save the user guide to your hard drive.

If the download links didn’t work for you, visit the GF2 Operating Manuals, and manually locate the download links titled “DMCGF2” and “DMCGF2_ADV”. Spanish versions of these manuals are also available here.

Panasonic allows you to freely print the DMC-GF2 owner’s handbooks without building in any password protection into the PDF. Additionally, you can freely copy portions from the Basic manual, but not, unfortunately, from the Advanced manual, which requires a password.

Both manuals discuss the features of the GF2 and how to use the camera.

The advanced operating instructions PDF goes further to describe camera settings for several optional accessories. The page references are:

The Basic and Advanced manuals mention the following externally-mounted flash units: DMW-FL220, DMW-FL360 and DMW-FL500.

Page 191 of the Advanced Manual and page 49 of the Panasonic GF2 Manual (Basic) talk about using filters and protectors for your GF2 lenses.

The following are the correct filters / protectors for the LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. lens:

  1. Panasonic LMW-LMC52 Multi Coated Clear Protection Filter (or compatible 52mm UV Filters)
  2. Panasonic DMW-LND52 Neutral Density Filter (or compatible 52mm ND filters)
  3. Panasonic DMW-LPL52 Polarizing Filter (or compatible 52mm circular polarizer filters)

The correct filters / protectors for the LUMIX G 14mm / F2.5 ASPH. lens are:

  1. Panasonic LMW-LMC46 46mm Multi Coated Clear Protection Filter (or compatible 46mm UV Filters)
  2. Panasonic DMW-LND46 46mm Neutral Density Filter (or compatible 46mm ND filters)
  3. Panasonic DMW-LPL46 46mm Polarizing Filter (or compatible 46mm circular polarizer filters)

Mention of the following mount adaptors are made in both GF2 manuals:

  1. Panasonic DMW-MA1 — for mounting Four Thirds System lenses.
  2. Panasonic DMW-MA2M — for mounting Leica M lenses.
  3. Panasonic DMW-MA3R — for mounting Leica R lenses.

How to use Panasonic DMW-MA1, DMW-MA2M and DMW-MA3R mount adaptors, as mentioned in the Panasonic GF2 Manual (Basic and Advanced)

Both manuals carry Panasonic’s recommendation to use the 1.5-meter (RP-CDHM15 black) and 3.0-meter (RP-CDHM30 black, white) versions of the Panasonic Mini HDMI cables in order to enjoy high quality pictures and motion pictures / videos / movie clips / footage from the GF2 on HDMI-compatible high definition TV sets.
