If you’re trying to decide whether to buy the Panasonic FZ150 or the Sony DSC-HX100V, I’d advise you to consider the image quality factor above all else.
After all, these cameras are not exactly cheap, and you’d be best served by putting your money towards the camera that gives you better pictures.
Personally, I tend to quickly strike cameras off my shopping list if they capture poor-quality images.
Use DPReview’s Studio Shot Comparison Tool to pull up their standard studio test scene comparing the Panasonic DMC-FZ150 and Sony DSC-HX100V and I think you’ll agree with me on this – that it’s clear how much better the Panasonic is when it comes to giving you great photos with much higher levels of detail.

Buy the Panasonic FZ150 if your priority is image quality. Get the Sony HX100V if it has the features you want that are not available on the Panasonic.

When comparing features and functions, be sure to read the respective camera manual in addition to perusing relevant reviews. The manual would have much more information on how to operate the camera, and more importantly, whether certain features have important limitations.
