The guide discusses the features of the D3200 and how to use the camera. For instance, page 193 explains the use of optional Nikon GP-1 GPS Unit (records latitude, longitude, altitude and UTC time with pictures) and Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord (remote shutter release with a lock position for BULB photography) accessories which plug directly into the accessory terminal that’s located on the left hand side of the camera body.

You can also plug in third-party, compatible remote shutter release units into the accessory remote terminal. One example is the Neewer Wireless Shutter Release, a radio-frequency (RF) remote control which seems to have garnered some good reviews. Read the following articles on Phottix Cleon C8, a wireless RF (radio frequency) remote shutter release, Phottix Nikos, Phottix Cleon II and Phottix Plato to get an idea of how third-party remote switches may be useful for your requirements.

Also mentioned in the manual is the Nikon ME-1 stereo microphone. This comes in handy if you want to record sound in stereo or to reduce lens autofocus vibration noise while recording movies and video clips.
