The EF 70-200 f/4 L IS USM lens was announced on 24-August-2006 and incorporates a new Image Stabilization mechanism that allows for 4 stops of stabilization.
It offers better stabilization than say, the faster, but older and heavier EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM lens.
