The Canon A3000IS was announced on Tuesday, 5 January 2010, and features a 10 MP (Megapixels), 1/2.3” CCD sensor, with a 4X, 35 — 140mm (in 35mm equivalent terms) image-stabilized zoom lens. Weight is approximately 5.47 oz. / 155g (including batteries and memory card) while dimensions (WxHxD) are 3.83 x 2.29 x 1.11 in. / 97.2 x 58.2 x 28.1.

Typical accessories for the A3000
Rechargeable Canon NB-8L Li-Ion Battery Pack. A battery is already included in the box, but consider buying a second, backup battery for your A3000. This way, you can be sure your camera continues to have a power source during extended shooting sessions.
For storage, the A3000 uses SD, SDHC or the latest SDXC cards.
Refer to Rob Galbraith’s SD / SDHC card write speed tests (done on a Nikon D90) to get an idea on the relative write and read speeds of different brands of cards. At the time of writing (Oct 29, 2009), the SanDisk Extreme III SDHC cards occupy the top two spots.
To ensure smooth recording of video and high resolution images, go for Class 6 or faster cards.
