Amazing Nikon D80 Images

This is the place for me to link up to fantastic photography by Nikon D80 users. Do leave a comment below if you’ve come across other noteworthy D80 pictures.

  1. Pablo Legarreta managed to capture some unbelievable cloud formations and gorgeous landscapes from Argentina — enjoy! Links to the photos #1 | #2

The UFO-style cloud formation is known as lenticular clouds, and Pablo says that these are common in Patagonia, Argentina. Pablo further explains his image capture technique, postprocessing steps and software used for expanding the dynamic range (also known as the HDR technique) in some of the photos (images #1 & #3). Lens used was the Nikkor 18-200mm AF-S VR with the aperture set at f/8.

  2. The Nikon D80 User Group on Flickr. The photos there are constantly updated with new submissions. Not all of them will be quality material, but most are. You can sign up at Flickr and add your favorite D80 photographers to your personal list from there.

  3. Chris Spracklen’s “Best of My D80” gallery — I’d say that Chris’ photos are among the most outstanding of the images posted by the early owners of the D80.
The thumbnails below represent my favorite Nikon D80 images from Chris’ gallery:

Most of the pictures in that gallery were shot with the Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED AF-S DX lens (check for latest prices).

  4. Stunning portrait by Johan Morck with the D80 + Sigma EX 70-200 APO DG HSM + SB-800 flash.

  5. Superb “first shots” macro images by Bob Frank with the Nikon D80 + Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro lens.
