Tethered Shooting with the Pentax K20D

According to "mmarusek", Capture One Pro seems to have no intention of including the Pentax K20D digital SLR camera in its tethered suite, and the Pentax Remote Assistant software that comes with the camera is "slow and clunky", and asked if there were alternatives.

"Dantum" suggested the following workaround:

  1. Set up a "Watched Folder" (say, Pentax K20 Photos) in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.
  2. Use the Pentax computer software to take the photo and put it into the Pentax K20D Photos folder.
  3. As soon as Lightroom sees the new image in the Pentax K20D Photos folder, it will automatically import it.

Does the pentax camera do standard PTP? I have a script to download using PTP that works with my Nikon but still trying to find out if other cameras will work as well. I think they should in theory as PTP is a standard interface but never really got it tested properly.

@Raymond – I don't have a Pentax camera, but the K20D specs at DPReview hints that PTP is supported:
"Connectivity: Mass storage / PTP selectable"
