Last update (Sep 16, 2009): Full-resolution Panasonic ZR1 / ZX1 photos and video / movie samples at DC.Watch.

This page is a collection of photo samples taken with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 12.1MP digital camera with 8x POWER Optical Image Stabilized Zoom, plus review and test photos, related image galleries, user pictures, movie / video clips and footage, and other examples that I’ve come across in forums, online communities, blogs and related websites.

This should help in determining if the image quality of the ZR1 / ZX1 meets your expectations.

Bear in mind that the majority of these photos are re-sized, and may have gone through post-processing, retouching or other edits. I just thought that it would be interesting to see, at a glance, what Panasonic DMC-ZR1 / ZX1 owners and users are shooting with their camera.

Full-sized images, where available, will assist with judging the image quality.

Particularly impressive, to me, was the video capture of the koala bear walking around in its enclosure, as the noise level was quite low (in fact, this is way better than on my Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR) despite the poor lighting conditions it was shot in. Operating the optical zoom and autofocus in movie mode was also smooth and effective. There’s also no sign of jello / tearing effects, unlike what I get with my Nikon D5000.

The official gallery of ZR1 / ZX1 images has three photos consisting of one outdoor portrait of a female model, a macro / close-up of a flower, and a night portrait.

Looking at the sample, I have to say that I’m thoroughly impressed by the image quality in terms of the level of detail. Luminance and chroma noise are at acceptable levels for this class of camera. Saturation, color and contrast / tonality are pleasant to the eye.
