Nikon D5000 Full-Sized Photos

These full-resolution sample images are files taken straight off my Nikon D5000 (unless otherwise noted) for you to view and download to your hard drives for evaluation only.

You can share these samples with others but please don’t use them in any media or website without attribution.

If you use the images in any way, kindly specify the following credit “© Digital Photography Notes / www.dpnotes.com”.

For an edited RAW / NEF file, download that file and open it up in Nikon Capture NX2 to view the edits I have performed.

All RAW / NEF to JPEG conversions are done in Nikon Capture NX 2 with the file quality setting at Excellent (highest quality).

I also turned off Noise Reduction in Nikon Capture NX2 before exporting the file to JPEG.

The date was May 26th, 2009.

This officer was explaining why the regular change of guard in front of Buckingham Palace won’t be taking place.

Preparations for the Queen’s birthday, or something to that effect.

We left, disappointed.

Falke, moored on the waters of Lake Mälaren in Stockholm

Quite a nice-looking ship, built in 1937 in Lübeck, Germanysee this image for more details on the boat.

This picture was taken as the cruise ship was approaching Bergen, Norway.

I used the scene mode “Autumn Colors“. Lens was the Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens at 18mm. The camera automatically determined the following image settings:

  2. Metering: Matrix

  3. Shutter speed: 1/400s

The time was already 20:31 in Bergen, but this being the month of May where the days are long, it still looked as if it were 5 pm.

This image was taken on Norway’s National Day.

I used the Sports Scene Mode to help keep shutter speeds up, since I was using the lens at very long focal lengths to pick individuals out of the crowd.
