This lens will give you sharp, detailed photos with beautiful bokeh, but the penalty for all that optical performance its the sheer size and weight.

Here's me peering into the lens hood - I can almost fit my entire face in it:

Nikkor 200mm f/2 thread at Nikoncafe.com - Don't read this extremely long thread that discusses the Nikkor 200mm f/2 if you don't wish to succumb to temptations to buy this lens. You'll need to create a free account to view some of the embedded images there. Some of my personal picks from there are:
- Portrait shot with a Nikon D2Xs - this is one of the best examples of why the Nikkor 200mm f/2 lens is famed for its creamy bokeh when shot wide-open at f/2 aperture.
- AS aka Harrison shoots rodeo pics - These were shot at crazy ISO values of 9000 to 12800 but are perfect examples of what the combination of a Nikon D3 plus 200mm f/2 can do for such action images where reach and usable high-ISO photos are called for.

Canadian Aboriginal festival in Toronto, Canada: To me, this set of photos from Geimov aka SirCharlie represent some of the best Nikon 200mm f/2 shots I've ever seen. ISO values used ranged from 2500 to 6400 (here are links to the second & third set of samples). The lens was mounted on the new Nikon flagship camera, the Nikon D3 digital SLR, and colors are beautifully preserved even at such high ISO. Amazingly, he managed to handhold the entire 10 lb setup - shooting the Nikkor 200mm f/2G normally requires the use of a monopod.
2008 Taipei Motor Show: The photos in this gallery were taken with a Nikon D3 and a variety of lenses. It looks like the reach of the 200mm VR is perfect for photographing beautiful people from a distance, if you're into that kind of thing. This image was shot with the 200mm Nikkor at wide-open f/2 aperture, while the bokeh in this f/2.2 photo is just gorgeous.
