The Kodak Z980 was announced on 5-January-2009 — read the press release.
Danny Palmerlee, the reviewer, awarded the Z980 an overall rating score of 3 out of 5 stars, and was amazed by the 500-shot battery life from 4 rechargeable AA batteries.
Regarding image quality, Danny says:
In overall image quality, the Z980 scored a bit below average in our lab’s jury evaluations. Its overall image score was Good, and it received above-average marks in sharpness, but it took its knocks in the color and overall exposure categories. The fact that the Z980 shoots in RAW, however, allows the camera to one-up nearly all of its competitors, giving users greater post-production control over the image.
In his conclusion of the camera, Steve says:
This camera offers pleasing image quality, speedy performance, and loads of useful exposure modes. The addition of the vertical shutter release and detachable vertical grip really add to the appeal, especially since the Z980 can capture some beautiful portraits.
