Alexandra Savvides assigns an overall rating score of 6.9 / 10 to the Z30, and says:
… the Z30 redeemed itself a little with its nice, punchy colours, but as for sharpness, it fell off dramatically at the edges of the frame. Noise above ISO 200 was very noticeable, with ISO 1600 being practically unusable. Even reviewing the image on screen showed that it was covered in noise. From the chart below you can see how much this camera struggled as it hit higher sensitivities.
Tim Moynihan, the reviewer, assigned a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars to this “toy” camera, and adds that despite its physical appearance, it takes excellent photos.
The Z30 earned an overall Image Quality rating of “Very Good”, and Tim reveals that for the target audience, the camera offers good value for the price.
Given this camera’s appearance, its image quality is a nice surprise; but the FinePix Z30 isn’t likely to sway anyone besides teenage girls due to its My Little Pony color scheme, its basic feature set, and its rubber controls.
You might want to spring for the black Z30 if you prefer a more “traditional” color.
